Swedish Body Massage

The Swedish body massage is the combination of many different Swedish massage techniques rolled into one session. During this therapy session the therapist will work with the soft tissues and muscles in the body to help restore balance and health.

The end result will relax all of the muscles in your body and to release any pain that the tension was causing. The techniques that are being used in one session can vary depending on the area that is being worked on.

Gluteal Massage

During this massage the therapist will start with the effeurage technique on the gluteal muscles. They will smoothly transition into kneading by cupping in a certain rhythm. They will use a technique that will work deep into the muscle because it is so large. They will ease off slowly using the bottom of three fingers and moving them in a circular motion backwards and forwards across the muscle.

Back Of Legs

One of the biggest areas where the Swedish body massage will come in handy is when the therapist is working on the back of the person’s legs. They will begin using the effleurage technique over the length of the leg. Over the calf muscle they will transition into the petrasage technique.

They will be careful when over the back of the knee so as not to apply too much pressure to this sensitive area. They will transition once again to knead the inside of the thigh and cup the outside area. At the end of the session they will once again use the effleurage technique over the length of the leg.
